JoAnn Kitchel is a freelance illustrator who works in watercolors and pen & ink. Her subjects have ranged from light-hearted children’s themes to sophisticated multicultural narratives.  JoAnn received her B.A. in Art Education from Central Michigan University in 1989. Upon graduation, she moved to the West Indies, where she taught art for nearly four years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. The West Indian culture and landscape have played an invaluable role in the development of JoAnn’s artistic style. The illustrator of over a dozen books for children, JoAnn also enjoys giving classroom presentations and sharing her stories and drawings with students.

Sarah Lawrence, Calligrapher

I find great beauty in the written word. Always have. My passion lies in scribing words, mirroring them, overlapping them and finding the beauty in their shapes and form. The CalligraphyCross is my signature form, and I feel blessed by each new cross creation. The creative process yields more than a unique piece of art; it yields a piece that honors it’s recipient and honors the spirit of the Cross. This is art that invites you to come closer, that begs your eye to linger on the form.

Most of my cross work is done by commission and make a wonderful gift to commemorate major events: birth, baptism, first communion, confirmation, graduation, wedding, anniversary, and death. I also enjoy creating unique monograms that can be used to make your stationary and letterhead exceptional.
